TWO DAY TRAINING COURSE

ON

DESIGN, EVALUATION & COMPLIANCE OF ENERGY METERS, EMI / EMC & CE MARKING

26th – 27th November 2008

Introduction

A wide range of energy meters are being manufactured in India.  Meters of the electromechanical type having an accuracy from 2% to 0.5% and meters of the static type having an accuracy of upto 0.02% and capable of measuring a wide variety of parameters are available in the market.  In view of this, it is essential to evaluate the energy meters for their accuracy, reliability, endurance etc.  The Indian Standard for energy meters has been upgraded to include tests like impulse, vibration and shock.  The purpose of energy meter testing from the customer’s viewpoint is to demonstrate that the instrument has met the guaranteed specifications.  From the manufacturers viewpoint, the tests provide a check on the design and a guide to the development of better products.

As more electronics is involved with the appliances, they become prone to EMI.  The EMI/EMC effects may cause instantaneous or long term malfunctioning or permanently damage the equipment. All electronic appliances/systems manufactured in India must comply with the EMI / EMC standards for the purpose of exports and get ‘CE’ mark.

ERDA is organising a two-day training course to impart knowledge regarding test methods, testing techniques, test equipment calibration etc.  The course will lay stress on practical aspects.
